Another assumption considered in the traditional agency theory is utility maximisers. However all the agents do not consider this assumption. This assumption is mainly taken by the principal- agent relationship that are mathematically researchers and the projects which are required to be done in the mathematical ways and in no other ways (Malmi, 2016). One of the important assumptions of the theory is the risk preferences between principal and agents. Risk preference assumption depends on the tolerance level of the principal and agent that is if they are risk takers then they would not seek for the security. Whereas the risk averse principal and agents prefers security over risks involved projects however, principals are considered to be indifferent about risks while agents are considered to be risk averse. This is because principal is bound to pay the contracted compensation to the agents depends on the conditions of his performance (Bolton, Mehran, and Shapiro, 2015). Hence, agent is supposed to perform as per the requirement of principal, which is a risk to him. Further, there are certain other assumption in the theory is that difference in types of agents that is to classify the agents for being productive or unproductive, experienced or inexperienced etc. Other assumptions in the traditional agency theory relates to the information and goal conflicts (Danthine and Donaldson, 2015). Influence of these assumptions of the traditional agency theory on approaches to compensation is the contracted amount, which is paid by the principal to its agents on hiring terms and conditions depending on the escalations or inflation of future economy (Bolton, Mehran, and Shapiro, 2015). Extrinsic motivation is a behavioral performance of an activity, which is performed by individuals in order to receive or earn reward or to evade an adverse situation or outcome (Lin, 2015). For example, studying hard to get good marks in the examination, playing sports to win awards, cleaning and dusting the room in order to avoid parents snapping etc. Whereas intrinsic motivation is a performance of an activity, which involves personal, desire to reward for its own sake rather than any external reward. Intrinsic motivation is performed for self-satisfaction and development rather than any external enjoyment or fun (Arnold, 2016). For example, playing a sport because the activity is enjoyable for the participant, studying hard in order to gain knowledge rather than for the sake of attaining good grades, cleaning the room because it is good to be around cleaned environment. Apart from the differences, there are certain relationships between the two Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivations. Even though the two motivations are different, both are some way related to each other, i.e. as extrinsic motivation is externally related while intrinsic is internally related, both can be simultaneously related (Van der Stede, 2016). For example, a student likes to study hard in order to gain knowledge which eventually end up getting good grade, an individual likes to play a sport and the same helps the individual in achieving awards, an individual likes and enjoys doing work which ultimately help him/ her earning the livelihood. In an organization, employee is the most vital factor for its growth and sustainability. Additionally, for the employees the key attribute is the compensation pay package provided by the enterprise. Employee compensation is the most crucial part for a companys management as it is the mode of connection between the employer and employee. The influence of remuneration or compensation package plays an important role in the attitude of employee that could be either risky or favorable for the entity. No organization or company can be a big company without the service of employees be it white collared or blue collared hence it is very important to place a decent and deserving compensation to its employees (Lin, 2015). Employees attitude towards the compensation package plays in adverse situation that is if the organization is paying as per the employees desire and capacity, the employee will have a positive attitude towards its work. The time period for the payment of the financial benefit depends on the policies of company to company i.e. the compensation can be paid monthly in some entities while some entities provides quarterly or annual payments (Van der Stede, 2016). This period generally varies and depends on the size of the company and the type of the industry it works in. In case the main object of the entity is blue, collared employees then the financial benefit payment could be a monthly payment. While, the payment may be monthly or annually in case of white collared employee and the segregation can be in other type as well. Compensation package in an organization is designed based on the several factors like the industrial norms, companys outcome and goals, geographical factors, field of experience, working hour slabs etc. Compensation can of three types- Direct Financial compensation, Indirect Financial compensation and Non- Financial compensation. Direct financial compensation refers to basic pay i.e. salaries or wages, commissions, brokerage. Whereas indirect financial compensation refers to the benefits in the form of leaves, allowances, retirement plans etc. on the other hand, Non- financial compensation refers to promotions, growth, working infrastructure of the organization (Bromwich and Scapens, 2016). The fairness role can be in terms of the geographical factor that is the region in which the organization is located and hiring the employees. Another fairness role could be the category of employment that is there should be parity for the employees as per their qualification and experience. The executive compensation committee is responsible to formulate and review the compensation and allowances packages. In the determination of compensation package it is the duty of committee to provide benefits to the executives apart from the basic pays, although it is not a compulsion on their end. An Overview of Social Conservativism Social conservatism was ushered into American politics with the so-called Reagan Revolution in 1981, and renewed its strength in 1994, with the Republican takeover of US Congress. The movement slowly grew in prominence and political power until hitting a plateau and stagnating in the first decade of the twenty-first century under President George W. Bush. Bush ran as a â€Å"compassionate conservative† in 2000, which appealed to a large bloc of conservative voters, and began to act on his platform with the establishment of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. The terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, changed the tone of the Bush administration, which took a turn toward hawkishness and Christian fundamentalism. The new foreign policy of â€Å"pre-emptive war† created a rift between traditional conservatives and conservatives aligned with the Bush administration. Due to his original campaign platform, conservatives became associated with the â€Å"new† Bush administration and an anti-conservative sentiment has nearly destroyed the movement.In most areas of the country, Republicans align themselves with the Christian right refer to themselves as â€Å"conservatives† since fundamental Christianity and social conservatism have many tenets in common. Ideology The phrase â€Å"political conservative† is most associated with the ideologies of social conservatism. Indeed, most of today’s conservatives see themselves as social conservatives, although there are other types. The following list contains common beliefs with which most social conservatives identify. Criticisms Because the preceding issues are so black and white, there is a considerable amount of criticism from not only liberals but also other conservatives. Not all types of conservatives agree whole-heartedly with these ideologies, and sometimes denounce the vigilance with which hard-line social conservatives choose to advocate their positions.The radical right has also placed a large stake in the social conservative movement and has used it in many cases as a way to promote Christianity or to proselytize. In these cases, the entire movement is sometimes censured by mass media and liberal ideologues.Each of the tenets mentioned above has a corresponding group or groups which oppose it, making social conservatism a highly criticized political belief system. Consequently, it is the most popular and most scrutinized of the conservative â€Å"types.† Political Relevance Of the different types of conservatism, social conservatism is by far the most politically relevant. Social conservatives have dominated Republican politics and even other political parties such as the Constitution Party. Luther observed these offenses in person during a previous trip to Rome. These concerns were compounded by disagreements about doctrine, the sacraments, celibacy, and the power of the Pope. Valuing Literacy Essay In speaking about the value of literacy in the classroom, it is essential to reflect upon our own personal histories in the classroom setting. Being that my favorite content has been primarily math, it was often difficult for me to be interested in literacy. Language, both spoken and written, did not appeal to me in the same way that math and numbers did. I always found math to be very logical, simple and straight forward, with understandable rules, while language seemed subjective, with rules that alter and change over time. However, even though language was not my favorite subject, it is vital to understand the ways in which people are aided by having a strong command of language. Development The development of the child as one passes through the school system is a constantly shifting and evolving process. I remember listening to bedtime stories as a young child and learning to read, then learning how to spell and write in elementary school and understanding the parts of speech. As I progressed into secondary school, I was expected to organize and refine my writing, developing concepts in depth. It is a natural process for children to start out slow with literacy skills. However, it is important for children to be supported in language acquisition as they grow older, promoting the comprehension of multifaceted ideas (Plaut, 2008). Content There were various methods employed by my parents and teachers to help me to fully understand the content of literacy. When reading with my parents, we took turns reading and pronouncing words. They encouraged me to read to them, just as they were happy to read to me. In elementary school, I received further instruction in grammar and semantics, learning how words worked within sentences, how words were spelled, how to gain meaning from the concepts being communicated. In secondary school, I was encouraged to write essays, to fine tune my organizational skills, and to communicate ideas in a comprehensive and orderly fashion. Experiences In reflecting on how some of my experiences with literacy were helpful or harmful, it is important to note that not all children learn about language in positive ways. Sometimes, the very people who are supposed to be our teachers use language to deflate the self esteem of children. I remember being reprimanded for reading something incorrectly, and the result was that I was less confident the next time. On the other hand, I remember instances of teachers praising my writing and pointing out what worked. I believe that praising the good is often more productive than shaming the mistakes. Social Impact The social impact of literacy is an important element of language acquisition. When family members, teachers, and friends are not highly educated in literacy or do not value language skills, then the result is a social environment which is not adequately supportive (McKenna Robinson, 2009). Social interactions have a way of making or breaking a person, and it is important to recognize the gulf between the expectations of the greater academic society and the reality of one’s social atmosphere. Practice In bringing my own literacy skills to a higher level and moving from being a student to being a teacher, it is highly important for me to be able to be an excellent model of literacy to the students I teach. Although I am focused on being a math teacher, the explanation and understanding of any subject has to be successfully communicated through language (Zwiers, 2007). It is of utmost importance to me and my future students that I be able to support them in polishing their literacy skills. In order to do this, I must focus on my own level of excellence. Gender and Power Relations in Browning’s Porphria’s Lover and My Last Duchess Robert Browning provides a critical view of gender and power relations in his dramatic monologues â€Å"Porphyria’s Lover† and â€Å"My Last Duchess.† The dramatic monologue, as S.S. Curry has written, "reveals the struggle in the depths of the soul† (11). Browning delves into the minds of characters to show their conceptions of women and ideas of power. He explores the mental processes of the characters, and invites readers to question societal ideas of power and gender. The mental pathologies of the speakers is emphasized, which forces readers to examine the sanity of their own notions of gender dynamics. In the Victorian age, the idea of separate spheres was an integral part of society. Men’s roles involved participation in the marketplace of the industrial society. Women, on the other hand, were expected to remain in the domestic sphere. They were assigned subordinate, and often passive roles, whereas men played direct roles in an industrial society, therefore being active agents. William Greg’s review-essay â€Å"Prostitution† (1851) provides insight into societal conceptions of men and women and their respective roles. Although Greg believes prostitutes are treated unfairly by society, he nonetheless views prostitution as â€Å"the darkest, the knottiest, and the saddest† social problem â€Å"which philosophy has to deal with† (448). A critical reason prostitution is ostracized is because it violates traditional ideas of gender relations. Prostitutes are women who participate in the marketplace. They, therefore, venture outside the realm of their expected sphere, the home. This is dissonant with Greg’s view – which is a reflection of society’s view ... ...nventional gender relationships. They were assumed to be the active agents and women were expected to be passive. Browning draws attention to the madness of the narrators by delving into their minds. In doing so, Browning forces readers to question their own conceptions of gender and power relations, since the men’s views are but an exaggeration of societal ideas concerning gender dynamics.
